My current projects are great fun. I'm playing bass for the "Florida Tech Jazz Syndicate" as well as for the all Ph.D. faculty band "Twitchy". The Jazz Syndicate is lead by Winston Scott, trumpeter with some serious chops, and dean of the FIT College of Aeronautics. The rest of the group are all undergraduates: Casey Gardener (guitar), David Jarkey (piano), Sebastian Valdivia (drums), and Paul Decker (trombone). "Twitchy" is a fun-time rock-and-roll band lead by Florida Tech university president Anthony Catanese, and includes Alan Rosiene, Ivica Kostanic, Fred Ham, Cliff Bragdon, Jamie Younkin, Winston Scott, Kevin Johnson and Susan Earles. I have written a few songs over the years - nothing great but I have fun. Here's some mp3's I put together on my home recording studio (A Roland BR-8 and more recently an iMac). I did all the parts, including singing (which was maybe a mistake :-) Anyway, I had fun and I hope you at least get a smile out of them. I recorded the NPR All Things Considered theme on slap bass, and sent it in on CD. A couple weeks later, the Director of the show, Bob Boilen, called me at home to tell me to turn on the radio so I could hear as they used the clip for the first time -- very nice of him! A few days later, Friday afternoon before a Sunday Christmas, the roads were packed and I heard the clip again as I was driving. Definately the biggest audience I'll ever have! Every few months I'll hear them use it once or twice: My "15 minutes" is adding up 7 seconds at a time :-). Also be sure to check out Bob Boilen's NPR show All Songs Considered.
